QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION OF ACTIVE SUBSTANCES

  • One suppository contains:
  • Papaverini hydrochloridum (papaverine hydrochloride) – 0.1g;
  • Belladonnae extractum siccum (dry extract of banewort leaf) – 0.015 g
  • Excipient: suppository mass q. s.
  • Belladonnae extractum siccum (dry extract of banewort leaf) – 0.015 g

Indications

  • systaltic states within the abdominal cavity
  • biliary colic
  • nephrocolic

Contraindications

  • The contraindications to use are:
  • benign prostate hyperplasia,
  • narrow angle glaucoma,
  • acute or chronic hepatopathies,
  • obturatory uropathy caused by the obstruction of urinary tracts,
  • intestinal atonia,
  • ileus,
  • pylorostenosis,
  • atony of bladder,
  • tachycardia
  • ischaemic heart disease,
  • fever,
  • hypersensitivity to atropine,
  • allergy to any component of the medicinal product.

Special warnings and precautions for use

Administration of a dose of papaverine higher than recommended causes drowsiness, grogginess, paralysis of striated muscles and myocardium. The occurrence of disorders in patency of the urinary tract in older patients with prostate hyperplasia may appear.
Individuals with acute or chronic hepatopathies or nephropaties should use the medicine only after medical consultation. Observe special caution using the medicine in individuals with circulatory diseases (e.g. cardiac arrhythmia, ischaemic heart disease) and respiratory diseases. Such cases require the consultation of a physician before use.
BIOSPASMIL® can be used in children only under medical supervision.

Pregnancy and lactation

The medicinal product must not be used in pregnant and breast feeding women.

Action

Papaverine acts diastolicly on the smooth muscles within the abdominal cavity. The atropine contained in extract of banewort leaves has antispastic activity diminishing the tone of the smooth muscles of the alimentary, biliary and urinary tracts.

Dosage and method of administration

The usually applied dose of the medicinal product in adults is up to 3 suppositories daily.
Children and elderly individuals - dosage according to physician’s instructions.
Method of use:
Remove a suppository from the blister pack and insert deep into the rectum.

Storage

  • Store in closed packages, under 25°C.
  • Protect from light.
  • Keep away from children.
  • Do not use the product after the expiry date given on the package.

Package

  • 3 suppositories, 2 g each,
  • 6 suppositories, 2g each.
